Americans who require legal services in Sri Lanka or the Maldives may find it useful or necessary to engage the service of a local attorney. The Embassy will not provide an attorney for U.S. citizens and Embassy officers are prohibited from offering legal advice.

The Embassy has prepared a local list of attorneys(PDF 238 KB) who have indicated an interest in representing Americans. The Embassy assumes no responsibility for the integrity or professional ability of the persons or firms whose names appear on the list. In addition, the Embassy cannot guarantee that attorneys included in the list will be able or willing to provide legal services in every case.
