Colombo, May 4: 2018 Diversity Visa Program entrants can now check the status of their applications at the following website: https://dvprogram.state.gov. Applicants should retain confirmation receipts until September 30, 2018.
The Department of State advises the public of a notable increase in fraudulent emails and letters sent to Diversity Program applicants. The scammers behind these fraudulent emails and letters are posing as the U.S. government in an attempt to extract unnecessary payment from DV applicants.
Diversity Visa applicants must check their status online and will not receive a notification letter, email, or phone call from the U.S. government. Applicants can only find out if they were selected to continue with DV processing by checking their status online through the DV Entrant Status Check at http://www.dvlottery.state.gov .
The U.S. government will never ask you to send payment in advance by check, money order, or wire transfer. Beginning October 1, 2017, applicants selected for the Diversity Visa program pay in person $330 USD directly to the U.S. Embassy at the time of your interview.
