Message for U.S. Citizens: U.S. Embassy of Colombo Recruiting for Citizen Liaison Volunteers (CLV) Program

December 20, 2023

U.S. Embassy of Colombo is seeking Citizen Liaison Volunteers (CLVs) to join its American Liaison Network (ALN). This program is a key component of the Embassy’s efforts to inform U.S. citizens in Sri Lanka.

CLVs are unpaid volunteer liaisons to the U.S. citizen communities the Embassy serves. CLVs help us identify the needs of the community, proactively communicate information to the Embassy, and partner with the Embassy to address security, safety, and health issues affecting U.S. citizens. CLVs play an important role in keeping the U.S. citizen community in our district informed, and, in extraordinary circumstances, helping us deliver emergency services to U.S. citizens in need. CLVs must be fluent in English, preferably also speak Sinhalese and/or Tamil, and have a good familiarity with the U.S. citizen community in their region. CLVs do not need to be U.S. citizens.

If you are interested in becoming a Citizen Liaison Volunteer, please apply by emailing ColomboACS@state.gov by January 5, 2024, with the following information:

· Your full name
· Date of birth
· The area/region where you reside
· A brief summary of your background and efforts in your community (i.e., civic engagement, volunteer efforts, or job)

Once you notify us of your interest, we will get back to you with additional information and further instructions.
