Event: Reports indicate the trade unions of the Electricity Board, Sri Lankan Ports Authority, Sri Lankan Petroleum, the Water Board, and state banks plan to hold demonstrations near Fort Railway at 12:30 PM today (February 22). 1500 to 2000 people are expected to participate in the demonstration.
Even peaceful demonstrations can quickly turn confrontational and escalate into violence. Avoid areas where demonstrations are taking place and exercise caution when in the vicinity of large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.
