Event: Inter University Students’ Federation (IUSF), civil society organizations, and trade unions have announced plans to hold a demonstration march today (January 16, 2023) from 12:30 PM, starting in the Lipton Circus (Town Hall) and Fort Railway Station areas, then moving to the Presidential Secretariat. 800-1000 people are expected to participate in the demonstration.
Even peaceful demonstrations can quickly turn confrontational and escalate into violence. Avoid areas where demonstrations are taking place and exercise caution when in the vicinity of large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.
