Event:
· A demonstration march is expected to arrive in Colombo at approximately 3:00 p.m. today (April 19, 2022). The march commenced on April 17 in Beruwala, and the participants (several thousand) are making their way towards Colombo. The participants are expected to gather at the Town Hall/Lipton Circus area when the march concludes. This event may cause congested traffic along highway A2 and the Town Hall/Lipton Circus area.
U.S. government personnel have been advised to avoid the area.
Actions to Take:
· Avoid the areas of the demonstrations.
· Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
· Monitor local media for updates.
· Keep a low profile.
